Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
An approachable red blend featuring loads of dark fruit on the nose including plums and mulberries, with hints of dark chocolate and mocha. A medium to full-bodied wine with grippy tannins and flavours of red berries and cocoa that linger on the finish.
Production Notes
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc
Winemaker Notes
Much like the blend of silt, sand, and gravel in our soil, Alluvium Red is a composition of our red varietals. This wine features a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wines were blended after primary fermentation, and malolactic fermentation was completed in French oak barrels. This added some complexity and notes of mocha, coffee, and chocolate. Merlot and Cabernet Franc added lots of dark fruit and good tannin structure to the wine. This is a wine meant to be enjoyed young, but will develop beautifully over the next 4 years.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy this fruit-forward red blend with barbecue meats such as short ribs, or fresh pizza with sun-dried tomatoes and chorizo sausage.
